Cognilo
Brain puzzles without the pressure
Plenty of puzzle games put a clock on every round. Cognilo doesn't by default. Here is what changes when you remove the timer, when a clock is worth switching on, and an untimed puzzle to try right now.
What is the difference between timed and untimed puzzles?
A timed puzzle scores speed and accuracy together, so a careful solver and a fast guesser can end up with similar scores. An untimed puzzle scores only whether you reached the right answer, which rewards reading the whole problem and checking your reasoning.
Neither is better in general. Untimed play suits anyone who finds countdowns stressful, anyone playing to unwind, and anyone who wants to understand why an answer is right. Timed play suits people who enjoy the race against the clock.
How Cognilo handles time
Precision mode has no timer and is the default for every game. Sprint mode adds a clock when you want one, and Sprint scores are kept out of the Training Rating so faster play never outranks careful play. Zen mode is unrated, for playing purely for fun.
Only a few games involve timing by design, such as the reaction game Quick Signal and the brief look at the tiles in a memory round.
What makes a daily puzzle routine enjoyable?
A clear end point, variety, and no penalty for missing a day. The Daily 5 ends after five puzzles, about six minutes, and rotates through six categories so the same puzzle type doesn't come up every day. Instead of a streak that resets, Rhythm counts the days you play each week and includes Grace and Vacation days.
Frequently asked questions
Are there brain games without timers?
Yes. Cognilo's default Precision mode is untimed in every game, and all puzzles on this website are untimed. Sprint mode is there if you want a clock.
Do untimed puzzles count toward my rating in Cognilo?
Yes. The Training Rating is built on untimed Precision rounds. Timed Sprint scores are shown separately, and Zen rounds are unrated.
Will I lose progress if I skip a day?
No. Cognilo has no streak that resets. Rhythm counts how many days you played this week, and Grace and Vacation days cover busy weeks.
